Our Doctor
Dr Keshav Bhat
Founder, Chief Optometrist, Executive and Visionary
Dr. Bhat has been passionate about enhancing the lives of his patients since he began his career as an optometrist in 2001 by assisting them in achieving optimal vision and comfort.
He recognizes that vision problems have an impact on a variety of daily activities. Nothing is more satisfying than when a patient notices an improvement in their visual clarity.

Dr. Bhat is certified in the following specialized areas:
- General Optometry - Comprehensive eye exams for children and adults
- Specialty Lenses - Specialty and custom contact lenses like scleral lenses
- Anterior Segment - Diseases affecting the front of the eye like Dry Eye Syndrome
Dr. Bhat grew up in a family of physicians and has always been attracted to a career in healthcare.
He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his dad, who was a physician. His first introduction to optometry was at one of the world’s leading vision institutes, Sankara Nethralaya and the Elite School of Optometry, a unit of the Birla Institute of Technology. Through a fully funded scholarship, he was fortunate to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Following this, his Doctor of Optometry degree was earned at the New England College of Optometry, Boston.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Union Family Eye Associates was started in 2007 as Austin Village Eyecare. A couple of years into starting this practice, he noticed that a number of his patients and their families were not just from Indian Trail but as far out as Mineral Springs, Marshville and Peachland. He then re-branded the business as Union Family Eye Associates. Service offerings expanded from routine eyecare to advanced dry eye treatments.
It’s Bhat’s vision to have a practice for people who want to experience thorough and accurate care, a personal experience, progressive treatments, and great eyewear.
